Don’t Get Stuck With a Bad Digital Marketing Agency

There are a LOT of bad agencies out there.  I just recently extricated myself from one I was white labeling for because of how bad the ethics were. I couldn’t continue to be associated in any way.

👎They took client money even when they weren’t providing the service
👎They didn’t pay contractors according to agreed terms (👀 still waiting on that last invoice payment from 3 months ago...)
👎Clients would have to ask for help with *high* priority things repeatedly before anything was addressed
👎Clients would ask direct questions about what was being done and the person would immediately shift the conversation to how “great” performance was to distract from the fact that they had done something wrong

If only there were a better way for businesses to see behind the curtain of places like this, but it’s so hard to get to the root of how an agency operates. Anyone can add fake reviews to their website, and profiles of fake employees, to convince you they're the real deal. But it’s really difficult for someone who has seen the inner workings to warn potential future clients.

So how do you know if you’re working for a bad agency like this one?
✔️ Don’t be afraid to ask direct questions. Get to the bottom of what value this agency is providing and get the facts. Don’t be swayed by big talk.
✔️ Communicate your needs if they aren’t being met. If they show no sign of trying to improve, move on fast. Reasonable expectations are non-negotiable when you’re paying for a service.
✔️ Do a background check. Seriously do some digging into the person you’re doing business with. You may be surprised at what you find.
